Welcome to Haven TimberHomes

Authentic. Traditional. Enduring value. Haven TimberHomes are modern, economical improvements on the solid piece-en-piece timberframe buildings of the frontier. They offer builders, homeowners, and resort developers a new concept: traditional timber buildings that are beautiful, comfortable, affordable, durable, easy to maintain, and easy to assemble. People look to log or timber homes for warmth, sturdiness, comfort, and traditional styling. The better ones are typically expensive, while the less costly ones can be of lower quality. A Haven TimberHome turns this around, offering high quality, modest cost, and long-life.
For the homeowner, the beauty of a Haven TimberHome is its clean, traditional style, easy to maintain and energy efficient. The planed vertical surfaces of the timbers are bright and do not collect dust or promote mold. Haven TimberHome designs are ideal for homes, vacation cottages, resorts and commercial buildings. Their 8” thick walls are warm – studies show solid timber to have an energy performance comparable to that of an insulated stud wall of the same thickness. But their thermal mass retains and re-radiates heat for even comfort. Haven TimberHomes is proud to have been rated Four Stars Plus by the AKWarm evaluation, meeting the rigorous Alaska Building Energy Efficiency Standard (BEES). For a builder, a key advantage of Haven’s LoeksLog® system is that homes of any size and walls of any length can be built from timbers no longer than 8’. No cranes or heavy equipment needed, and the precision-milled timbers fit together quickly and accurately – like “adult lego”. Once up, one need only caulk the seams and apply finish inside and out. No need to stuff insulation, fit vapor barrier, hang, mud, tape, and paint drywall, and install exterior siding. Haven TimberHomes provides plans, easy-to-use assembly instructions, and advice on alternative designs and options. Haven TimberHomes meets the standards of the National Building Code of Canada and the ICC400 Standard on the Design and Construction of Log Structures recognized across the USA. + Read More
Our Work
Haven TimberHomes assemble quickly with no heavy equipment
A Haven TimberHomes shell package includes the exterior timberframe walls or “shell”, and your selection of energy-efficient windows, roofing, flooring and pine paneling. The timbers arrive at your building site in concise 3’x 4’x 8’ bundles. A Haven structure is comprised of 8′ panels: horizontal 8×8 timbers between 8×8 upright posts. These walls can be readily assembled by both general contractors and by the owner-builder. While constructing his own timber-frame, piece–en–piece home, Yukon builder Dave Loeks developed what became the LoeksLog® system manufactured by Haven TimberHomes. Contractors and do-it-yourself builders can purchase just the exterior timber walls instead of a full package, should they prefer. Contact us for prices.
A 24’x24’ home under construction
Our home packages are based on a standard panel, 8’ high by 8’ long, which can comprise a wall of any length. This is a remarkably cost-effective building system. For example, the home pictured at the very top of this page was built to the “lockup” stage for just $55,000 – including the generous porches and overhangs. You save because of our abundant timber supply, our efficient manufacturing, and our precision-engineered timberframe system which requires less labor to assemble. The 12 panels shown in the 24′ x 24′ home above can be assembled in 1 ¼ day by four people. We provide packages for a variety of home and building sizes. We are happy to discuss how we can adapt the Haven TimberHome system to your own design.
- Over and above providing solid timber house packages, we provide a selection of designs, and advice on adapting existing designs to our building system. We can custom design new applications, and we can customize packages by providing lofts, trusses, interior accent beams, other wood species -fir, spruce, cedar, lodgepole pine.
